Run by Liberty Media and the previous head of Amazon.com, you answer a question, you get points (called PTZ cause they're so hip), and apparently you get prizes at the end of it. A question is worth about 2 PTZ. One question per day, you also get points for inviting friends. A brand new Xbox 360 game is about 100 PTZ. So, why not? 50 days till a videogame, at minimum. You get 2 PTZ for logging in to. I think it works off ads and the question is basically a survey. So expose yourself to more ads for 30 seconds a day, and get a videogame in about a month and a half. Why not? If you want an invite, email me. Purely selfish, cause I get points for inviting you.

How To Set Up An Internet Radio Station From Your Computer Which Your Friends Can Listen To, Free!

What this article will do is teach you how to set up your computer so that whatever you hear from your speakers, your friends can also hear over the internet! It's a great way to share new music without file transfers. Be forewarned, however, as there IS a lag of about (in my experience) 30 seconds from what you hear, and what anyone else listening in will hear. Still, a great thing to do.

The first thing you'll need to download is Windows Media Encoder (Here, or Google it, there's a search bar conveniently placed at the top of the page). What this program allows you to do is broadcast the sounds being directed to your soundcard. The problem now, is that we need to push the sound to a server which will broadcast this to your friends, and give us a free url to give to them. For this, I will be using the free streamwebtown.com servers. They're free because they're a trial version of sorts, the only limitation being that every two hours, they go down for 10 minutes. So don't set this up during an even hour in the first 10 minutes : not 8:00-8:10. Anyway, to set this up, start up Windows Media Encoder, and choose Broadcast a Live Event. Press next, and make sure only audio is checked. Press next, and choose "Push to a Windows Media Server (the connection is initiated by the encoder)". Press next, and in the server name field, type in "streamwebtown.com", w/o quotes. For the publishing point, choose a unique name for yourself, this will be part of the url you give to your friends. Make sure it is unique, because if you choose something generic (aka bob), it might conflict with someone else. Leave everything else default. Press next, and select 135 and 70. Press next, and leave everything as is, it should NOT be saving an archive file (this will just take up space on your computer saving a sound file of what you're listening to). Press next and input whatever you want for these fields, aka for author, title, etc. Finally press next and finish. After this, it will ask you for a username and password. For username, type in User, and for password, type in Stream. It might lag for a good bit, but eventually it will pop up with a warning, just press okay. After all this, press start encoding at the top of the window. You are now broadcasting! Your friends can listen to your stream, live, at mms://streamwebtown.com/nameyouchosehere or http://streamwebtown.com/nameyouchosehere. (Warning: Works fine on Windows, Macs will need to use VLC to listen to it). Enjoy!

Dell Studio 17 / 15 Touch Buttons Fix

For anyone who has a Dell Studio 17 / 15, if the touch buttons close to the screen, (Media Direct, back, stop, play/pause, forward, mute, softer, louder, and eject) ever stop working. Shut down your computer, remove the ac cord, and the battery, and then hold the power button for about 30 seconds. So, I decided to help you guys out with Linksys Routers - very popular (but in my experience, very unreliable since it keeps d/cing me.) Before you start, make sure you know your routers ip address. (Look at previous WC3 Hosting post). Anyway, instead of the DHCP mumbo jumbo I had with my old D-link model, the Linksys setup is very simple, by the book (book being www.portforward.com). K so go to Start> Control Panel> Network Connections. Select the connection that is your PHYSICAL internet connection. For example, I have Verizon and one of my options is called "Internet Connection" but I access that through my "Local Area Connection". If you have broadband/cable/fios its almost definitely "Local Area Connection", with maybe a number after it. If you're really unsure, disable that connection. If your net no longer works, its the right one. Anyway, now that you figured out which one it is, right click it and go to Properties. Under the general tab, scroll down in the middle box and highlight Internet Protocol [TCP/IP]. Click properties. Select the radio button for "Use the following IP address". In the first of the 3 lines, make the first 3 sections the same as your router, and the last one a number with a difference. For example, my router IP is 192.168.0.1. For my IP in this box i use 192.168.0.107. Remember this number. For Subnet Mask use 255.255.255.0. For default gateway use your router's ip, in my case 192.168.0.1 . For the DNS servers, only enter 1, the ip address of your router, e.g. 192.168.0.1 for me. Press Ok, close everything. Open up your favorite browser (FIREFOX FIREFOX FIREFOX) and type in your router's ip. Enter the username and password. (For help refer to old post). On my model I then go to the tab called applications and gaming, where I named the application Warcraft, start = 6112, end = 6119, Protocol is Both, and the ip address ending should be the same as the one you remembered. Check the enable box, and Save settings. You should be all set!

Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars

So... You've made a game in WC3. Noone is joining. You move on, meh. It bugs you, you call your friend, and he cant join either. His game goes gray and he sits around, toying with the idea of Ctrl+Alt+Delete-ing the whole deal. Your problem is one of 4 possible things.

Your firewall.
Your router.
Both of the above together, in the nasty combination that i had.
Something that totally screws you over, like your government banned Warcraft III.

First 3 i can fix, last one, your on your own.

If you were savvy enough to install your firewall, turn it off before you play WC3.
If you say you haven't installed a firewall, your right, but you still have a firewall. Go to start > control panel. Look for a globe behind a brick wall. Yup, windows has its own firewall. Double click, select off.

Router:
Before you try my wacked out way of doing this, try http://www.portforward.com/. They made a whole site just to help you out for free.

OK, my way. This assumes you are somewhat computer savvy.
Open your router page, by going into your web browser(btw, get firefox) and typing into the address bar 192.168.0.1. If that doesn't work, go google your router model to see what your router address really is. It'll ask for a user name and password. If you haven't been fiddling around with your router, it should be the company default, which you can google. For example, D-link company default is usr: admin pass: (blank). So you're in. Find something called DHCP or Static DHCP. Basically, what you're trying to do is make the router assign your computer a specific IP address every time that you turn your computer on, based on your hardware, hence static. So, there should be a box called something like DHCP client. There should be a dropdown box that you click, and select your MAC address. A MAC address, i believe, is a hardware specific number that is unique for each computer. For example my computer might be 00-03-EB-25-FF-KY. My router says the computer name next to the mac addy, so i click the dropdown arrow, and select kv13'scomputer, 00-03-EB-25-FF-KY. If your router doesn't say the comp. name next to the address, just turn off all the other computers in the house/disconnect them from the router, and select the only mac address left. Press use this mac address, or clone, or wtv. Ok, now that you have that selected your computer based on its hardware, assign it a unique ip. Do 192.168.0.1XX, where X is a number from 1-9. Personally, i use 192.168.0.102. (For those of you who do not access your router using 192.168.0.1, substitute as appropriate.) Fill in any other fields, such as name, etc. with whatever you feel.

Next navigate on your router to something called virtual server, port forwarding, exceptions, something like that. Create a new one, named Wc3 or something, and in private ip put the ip you assigned before. So i would put 192.168.0.102. Protocol type, select both tcp and udp. For both the places where it asks for ports, private or public, put 6112 (unless you have changed in WC3. to check what your WC3 port is, open Warcraft III, go to options>gameplay).

You should be ready to host games! No more gray screens for ppl!!! Yay! You can host DOTA! Btw, i play dota on us east, look for dota 3.7 - wombat§. Those are my games.

The Beginning

So. This is a blog. All about me... k. Well, not really me. My internet persona. I am a real person, somewhere, but he is not going to be appearing anytime soon. I was born on the internet when I was in 4th grade, with my first email address. I developed in 6th with my Warcraft III alias, killerwombatspy. I then moved on and created the one some know as Kv13. The purpose of this blog is to help people learn and understand all the tips, tricks, and other cool stuff that they could possibly want to know about the internet, computers, and other things relating. Every computer veteran has gone through hell with viruses and spyware, every gamer has come close to setting fire to their router because they can't host games. Every person who sells stuff online has almost been, or been, scammed. These are a few of the annoying things that I will attempt to teach you about, before you reinstall windows.
